Living in New York City

New York City is one of the largest and greatest cities in the world.  You might find housing to be expensive in the New York market, but there are ways to save money on a place to live.  For short-term stays in the City, it’s best to look for a sublet.  Some good places to start your search:

Many of these sublets come furnished with a bed and furniture, and when your time at school is done, you can simply walk away.  Another good way to save money is to have a roommate, and you can split the rent and utility bills.  Keep your wits about you and you can find an affordable apartment in a great location.

As one of the cosmopolitan centers of the world, NYC offers an unprecedented mixture of cultures to experience.  From Chinatown to Polish Greenpoint, the glitz of the Meatpacking District to the artsy Chelsea section, there is something for everyone, and more than you could possibly imagine.

Getting around New York City

New York’s subway is one of the most extensive public transportation systems in the world.  Our school is conveniently located in Midtown Manhattan, within walking distance of the B, D, F, V, N, Q, R, W, 4, 5, 6 and 7 trains.  Getting to and from school is remarkably easy, no matter where you are in the Ccity.   The public transportation system is also open 24 hours, 7 days a week.  For more information about routes, please go to the MTA Trip Planner.

Living Expenses

New York is a cosmopolitan city that presents the best of an incredible array of cultures, and all the glamour, celebrities, bright lights and luxurious dining you could hope for.  New York also offers a surprising amount of inexpensive or free activities.  You can save money by attending free nights at the museums, pay-what-you-will theater events, free concerts, gallery openings, etc.  You could buy a $40 steak, or you could buy a $2 taco or falafel.  Housing is the greatest expense, but by subletting and having roommates, you can save money there as well.
