Once again, the country’s favorite love-it-or-hate-it Holiday is upon us. Half of us will spend the run up to Valentine’s Day agonizing over finding someone to celebrate with, the other half worrying if their loved one will remember to celebrate! Either way, Valentine’s Day is the perfect time to spend a little time on the most important person in your life, YOU.

No matter our romantic situation, everyone wants to look perfect on Valentine’s Day, yet at this point in the year, our skin is suffering from the cold dry air and a lack of Vitamin D. We could all use a little epidermal pick me up! At Christine Valmy, we have come up with quick, simple recipes which require only ingredients everyone has in their own home, and can make you look great and feel better. Our Chocolate Mask is perfect for Valentine’s Day, as it not only makes your skin glow but works double duty as a tasty treat for you AND your partner!

Before using a mask, I recommend exfoliating beforehand, so that your skin can better absorb the ingredients and results will be maximized. An at-home exfoliator can be made by mixing sour cream* with cornmeal*!

Next, follow with our Chocolate Mask. This mask is specially formulated for dry and dehydrated skin.   Its ingredients are nourishing and hydrating, especially during the cold winter months. Chocolate is packed with antioxidants which help combat free radicals, promote circulation and prevent premature aging, so the cocoa powder will act as a vasoconstrictor to increase blood flow. The lactic acid from the sour cream increases product penetration, and the honey, banana, and olive oil soothe and hydrate the skin. It can be used not only on the face but all over the body as well…

Ingredients:

- 1 tbsp. of cocoa powder*

- 1 tbsp. of sour cream*

- ½ tsp. of honey*

- ¼ banana*

- 1 tsp. of olive oil*

Cut the banana in slices. Put banana slices, cacao powder and sour cream in the mixer.Mix. Add honey and olive oil. Stir to obtain a homogenized mixture. Apply on the entire face, except for the eyes, with a brush. Leave on for 20 minutes and remove with cotton pads and water.

Here is how it began:

Christine Valmy started developing her own skin care treatments using natural ingredients from her garden in 1944.  Other American countries were also doing this, however, Ms. Valmy noticed why she didn’t like their approach—and decided she could do better.

After she arrived in New York in 1965, she finalized her now-famous techniques, the ‘’Valmy method’’, with a philosophy to ‘’reveal not to conceal’’ the natural beauty of a healthy,
